Tuition fees

At the University of Primorska, full-time study at the undergraduate and master level of study is free from tuition fee for:

• citizens of the Republic of Slovenia and citizens of the of the European Union Member States,
• citizens of non-EU countries, with permanent residence in Slovenia, if they (themselves or their parents) are taxpayers in the Republic of Slovenia,
• Slovenians without Slovenian citizenship,
• citizens of countries that have concluded bilateral tuition exemption agreements with Slovenia:
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina,
  • Montenegro,
  • Kosovo,
  • North Macedonia,
  • Serbia,
• foreign citizens who apply individually to the faculty for exemption from payment or for approval of a reduction of tuition fees,
• foreign citizens and Slovenes without Slovenian citizenship who receive a scholarship from the Republic of Slovenia,
• foreign citizens with granted temporary protection.

 At the University of Primorska, the doctoral (PhD) degree of study is part-time study, except for one study programme.

Tuition fee is charged to:

• part-time students,
• full-time students: 
  • to foreign citizens of non-EU countries that have not concluded a bilateral agreement on exemption from tuition fees with Slovenia,
  • to citizens of the Republic of Slovenia, citizens of the European Union and citizens of countries that have concluded bilateral tuition exemption agreements with Slovenia  if they have already obtained an education corresponding to at least the level of education acquired according to the study program in which they are enrolled, or have not yet achieved an education corresponding to at least the level of education acquired according to the study program enrolled, and their student status was terminated in accordance with Article 70 of the ZViS in the previous study program.

The tuition fee for the academic year 2024/2025 is published in the Price list for students >>HERE<<

The tuition fee for the next academic year 2025/2026 is: 

- for undergraduate bachelor study programmes from 2.400,00 € to 3.750,00 € per academic year: 

(*) Tuition fee stated for an individual double-discipline study programme is charged for the implementation of two (2) double-discipline study programmes.

- for master's study programmes from 2.850,00 € to 5.000,00 € per academic year: 

(**) In case of interdisciplinary study programmes (implemented by several UP members), the tuition fee is charged by the member who enrols the candidates.

- for doctoral (PhD) study programmes from 1.000,00 € to 5.100,00 € per academic year: 

The tuition fee must be paid for the current year of study upon enrolment in the faculty (member of the university). The amount of the tuition fee is set by the faculty and is the same as the tuition fee for part-time study programs for citizens of the Republic of Slovenia.

Students are also obliged to pay other costs determined by the study program (fieldwork, etc.). Candidates can find detailed information for an individual study program on the website of the faculty that implements the study program.

Payment of registration fee or tuition fee does not include mandatory health insurance.
