- T4EU Week at Jean Monnet University in France
Twice a year, T4EU Week brings together students and staff from Transform4Europe's universities - students can choose and take one of the courses on offer, while staff members have the opportunity to meet up for face-to-face meetings. The third week took place at Jean Monet University (UJM) in France from 19 to 23 May 2025, with the theme "Design in all it's forms", as Saint-Étienne is not only the centre of French design, but also hosted a Biennale during the week.
The eight lectures, which were held in a combined format (online before and live during the week), covered a wide range of topics (bio-design, transitional design, ancient design, collaborative design, legal aspects of design in the EU, design and language, design for social challenges) - and one of them had the special involvement of UP. Dr. Ne啪a Lipovec 膶ebron, together with colleagues from both France and Lithuania, prepared the course "Design for Ecological Transformation: a Laboratory for [Living] Trees [as] Architecture", which was also attended by a large group of students from UP FHŠ, and in which they raised the topics of trees as architectural allies, from smart cities to living ecosystems, and the coexistence of human and non-human beings - and linked their findings to the Venice Architecture Biennale.
Strategic meetings of the workstreams, the Steering Committee and the Management Board were held alongside the courses to take note of the agreements and to confirm the key steps for the successful continuation of the project. The T4EU Student Council also outlined the key next steps. Key developments included the content of UP-led Workstream 6, which covers the topics of diversity and inclusion, mental health and well-being, and extra-curricular life - the latter of which will be further animated by a new Instagram channel, to be run in close collaboration with students, following recent agreements. Students have also been well involved in the rationality and inclusion workshop, which is one of the key additional contents of the T4EU weeks. This time, after a round table where UP's challenges in the field were also presented by Tjaša Kranjec (UP), they worked in groups to propose solutions to inclusion and diversity issues that students may face on mobility.
On Wednesday, 21 May 2025, UJM and UP also signed a bilateral agreement on a mobility window, the first of its kind in the Alliance, creating new ways of cooperation and facilitating exchanges between students who will be able to spend a semester at another university.
The week ended with the Fest'U festival, organised annually by JMU, which provides an opportunity for young musical groups, including the musical talents of students (this time also T4EU students) and staff. The next week will take place in October at the Lithuanian University Vitautas Magnus in October 2025.
