Research on initial education and continuous professional development of teachers and other professionals in the field of education as key elements of their professional development. Both areas are distinctly broad and interdisciplinary, as they include fundamental pedagogical disciplines (e.g. pedagogy, psychology, sociology, philosophy, methodology) as well as various subject areas and special didactics of these areas (e.g. mathematics and mathematics didactics, foreign language and foreign didactics language). Researchers are also focusing on the field of inclusive and social pedagogy, early learning and teaching, and lifelong education.
The Institute for Educational Sciences is headed by Assoc. Prof. Tina Štemberger.
