- Infrastructure program UP
The UP Infrastructure Program (IP UP) enables the maintenance of infrastructure in support of research activities at the university and has been regularly financed by the Public Research Agency of the Republic of Slovenia (ARRS) since 2004.
IP UP is currently being implemented for the period 1.1.2015 to 31.12.2020 in the amount of 15 FTE (full-time equivalent). UP also obtains material and depreciation funds for the maintenance of the research infrastructure, modernization of equipment and its parts, servicing and other services that are strictly necessary for the smooth operation of the research infrastructure.
New research infrastructure
In 2010-2015, UP invested in the new construction of the first Livade 1.0 tower as part of the Livade University Campus. The construction of a 7,687 m2 building in the Municipality of Izola was financed from the budget of the Republic of Slovenia (MIZŠ), partly - for the construction of the Center of Mediterranean Cultures - from EU funds, through the SIGMA project within the Interreg III-A Slovenia-Italy 2000-2006 and the strategic project SIGMA2 within the Cross-border Cooperation Program Slovenia - Italy 2007-2013. The construction of the Livade 1.0 facility represents an important contribution to the provision of appropriate infrastructure for the pedagogical and, above all, the research process. In addition to lecture halls, classrooms and training rooms, the building also has control and research laboratories with all the accompanying infrastructure.
In 2015, UP obtained European and national funds based on the direct confirmation instrument through the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports within the Operational Program for Strengthening Regional Development Potentials for the period 2007-2013, for the purchase of high-tech research equipment for the Livade 1.0 facility. By the end of 2015, UP had purchased over 140 pieces of research equipment in the fields of kinesiology, genetics, microbiology, cell cultures and biocultures, robotics, computer science, environmental research, plants and materials.
Based on the instrument of direct confirmation through the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports in 2015, UP obtained European and national funds within the OP of strengthening regional development potentials for the period 2007-2013, for the purchase and renovation of the ground floor of the Galeb building. By the end of 2015, UP had purchased the facility, renovated it and purchased basic equipment. Some research equipment was also purchased to investigate the properties of the materials and a climate chamber. The facility measuring 364 m2 is intended for research activities of UP IAM and UP FAMNIT members.
Based on the direct confirmation instrument, in 2018 it obtained European and national funds for the purchase of research equipment for the investment in the establishment of the . The investment started in the second half of 2018 and is expected to be completed in 2022. Equipment for environmental research, materials and biomedical research will be procured.
