Ranking in THE TIMES University Ranking

UP was ranked in the 2022 Times Higher Education (THE) World Universities Ranking 2022, at 1001-2001. place or for the natural sciences at 801-1000. place. UP was also ranked in the fields of "Emerging Economies" (301st-350th place) and "Physical Sciences" (801st-1000th place) by 2022.

UP was ranked in the Times Higher Education (THE) list of the best universities under the age of 50 in the group between 351-400.

Obtained UNESCO chair

The University of Primorska, in partnership with the Škocjan Caves Park, has obtained the "UNESCO CHAIR OF INTERPRETATION AND EDUCATION FOR ENHANCING INTEGRATED HERITAGE APPROACHES". The chair covers heritage studies, anthropology and cultural studies, archaeology, geography, history, intercultural studies, governance and biology.

Conducted European Congress of Mathematics

in Portorož was organized and carried out extremely successfully with 1,766 participants, more than 1,000 papers, and many distinguished guests.

InnoRenew CoE Center of Excellence established

The most insignificant strategic project of UP in the field of research and development in the period 2017-2021 is certainly the . The Center of Excellence was established in 2017 as a research institute, which has proven to pursue the vision of becoming the world's leading institution in the field of renewable materials research and sustainable construction and an example of excellence for international research, economic support and awareness the public and its involvement in research.

Publishing top scientific journals

publishes seven international open access scientific journals covering the fields of social sciences, natural sciences and humanities: Academica Turistica - Tourism and Innovation Journal, Ars Mathematica Contemporanea (AMC), The Art of Discrete and Applied Mathematics (ADAM), Journal of Elementary Education , Managing Global Transitions, Studia Universitatis Hereditati, Stati inu obstati. The magazine Management, which was transformed from a scientific to a professional magazine in 2021, is also open to the public.

One scientific journal is indexed in the WoS database and three in the SCOPUS database.

Acquisition of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship

UP achieved the planned result (indicator AN SRS21-27 1.3.1.1.), By obtaining in 2021 the first MSCA project for individual scholarship ddr. Giulie Beltrametti under the guidance of mentor Assoc. Research infrastructure

In the period 2017-2021, UP, in addition to major investments in new research infrastructure (purchase of research equipment within the project of establishing the InnoRenew CoE Center of Excellence, establishing INOLAB Innovative Laboratory and HICUP Laboratory "Humans Interacting with Computers @ University of Primorska"), connects with partner organizations in 4 national and 2 European research infrastructure nodes.

In 2021, UP established a Slovenian consortium of genetic / genomic and taxonomic infrastructure ERGA.SI "European Reference Genome Atlas SI". The consortium, led by UP, also includes UM, UL, the College of Environmental Protection, ZRC SAZU, NIB and the Natural History Museum of Slovenia.
